For the third year in a row, Denver has landed on the "A List" of the CDP, marking it as a frontrunner among global cities in the fight against climate change. The CDP, which spearheads the foremost disclosure system for evaluating environmental impact, has recognized Denver's commitment to climate action and transparency. "We believe Denver can be the gold standard for sustainability," Mayor Mike Johnston stated in an announcement documented by the City and County of Denver.

The city's series of bold initiatives is truly commendable. Denver's achievements for 2025 include the funding of nearly 2,000 clean energy systems and the planting of 5,200 trees in heat-vulnerable neighborhoods. Significant conservation efforts led to the saving of 21 million gallons of water through optimized irrigation techniques, while major policy updates securely positioned the city as a pacesetter in recycling and waste management. "Cities play a decisive role in shaping a resilient and earth-positive future," CDP CEO Sherry Madera told the City and County of Denver.

The city’s progress in reducing disposable bag use was also impressive, with a decrease of 2 million from 2024's numbers. Public health and comfort also saw an uptick due to the distribution of air purifiers and air conditioners to income-qualified households, showcasing the city’s commitment to not only environmental but also social sustainability. Elizabeth Babcock, Executive Director of Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency, proudly stated, "With Mayor Johnston’s support, Denver will continue its global leadership in climate action," as per the City and County of Denver.
