Detroit residents can anticipate a week mixed with chilly temperatures and intermittent snowfall, according to the latest weather forecasts. Starting today, there's a minor possibility of snow and freezing rain with the highs creeping just above the freezing point. This evening may also see a slight chance of snow, while Sunday promises a more significant snowfall expected to blanket the city with roughly an inch of snow.
The week ahead continues with this wintry theme, with the National Weather Service projecting a range of wintry conditions. Monday will be partly sunny, but the temperatures will hover below freezing, and by Tuesday, there's a 50% chance for more snowfall to grace the streets of Detroit. The possibility of precipitation carries on through midweek, a mix of rain and snow is in the cards as the week progresses, with the potential for some wintry mix precipitation heading into Wednesday evening.
But it's not just snow that Detroiters have to consider – temperatures are likely to vary quite a bit. After a mostly cloudy Monday night with lows around 17 degrees, Tuesday's high might climb to 35. By Wednesday, we could see the mercury hitting nearly 40 degrees amid rainy conditions before dropping back down that night.
Colder air persists as the week marches on, bringing the forecast highs down to around 29 by Thursday, and nightfall will likely see the temps dip back to the mid-teens. The oscillation between snow chances and clearer skies seems to continue into Friday, yet another day defined by a chance of snow and a piercing cold with the high projected just below 30 degrees. Even amidst these frosty patterns, Detroit holds its breath for a reprieve, an easing of the relentless winter dance that ushers in the flurries and the ice.
