The holiday spirit engulfs Downtown Waukesha as the city hosts the Night of Lights, inviting residents and visitors alike to bask in the warmth of community cheer and the glow of holiday decorations. The City of Waukesha announced on social media that the festivities will commence at 5:30 p.m. outside the Rotunda at 235 W. Broadway, with music and the ceremonial lighting of the Downtown Christmas tree, featuring an appearance by Santa Claus himself.
After the tree lighting, attendees can take part in the Lantern Stroll & Caroling, a festive procession following Santa from the Rotunda to the river while singing traditional holiday songs with downtown businesses. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lanterns or purchase one at the event. The evening concludes with the Walk of Lights Lighting Ceremony at 6:15 p.m. along Riverfront Street, followed by opportunities for treats, free ornaments, giveaways, and a chance to meet Santa.
For the duration of the Night of Lights, certain traffic regulations will be implemented; vehicles will be prohibited from parking along roads within the closure area after 3:00 p.m., and starting at 5:00 pm, traffic will be barred from entering or exiting the vicinity of the event. The City of Waukesha reminds attendees that as the event advances toward the riverfront, roads near the Rotunda and on Main Street will gradually reopen.
Waukesha’s Night of Lights highlights the city’s commitment to bringing the community together during the holiday season. The event offers residents and visitors a chance to celebrate festive traditions, enjoy seasonal displays, and create lasting memories with family and friends in downtown Waukesha.
