Yesterday evening fire at the E&H Ace Hardware store in Dublin, Ohio, triggered a significant emergency response, evacuating local businesses in the Dublin Plaza shopping center. The two-alarm fire, which was located in the Mansard roof area along Franzt Road, caused extensive damage to the property, as reported by WBNS.
Despite the scale of the emergency, officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported. Washington Township Fire upgraded the situation to a second alarm due to the heavy volume of fire and the high risk of the stored contents igniting, Fire Chief John L. Donahue told ABC6. The cause of the fire, however, remains unknown and, as Chief Donahue stated, "it will take a bit of time to figure out what started the fire."
The hardware store, which endured heavy internal and roof damage, will certainly be closed today, as observed by the Columbus Dispatch. The extent of the damage is still being evaluated, and Chief Donahue could not immediately provide an estimate of the costs incurred by the business.
Efforts to extinguish the fire continued for an undisclosed period, according to statements made by the fire department. The scene, now quiet with the absence of flames, serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictability of disaster. As of this writing, the blaze at E&H Ace Hardware store stands as a testament to the fortitude of Dublin's emergency services, and fortunately, also to their ability to prevent personal injury in the face of potential catastrophe.
