The City of Dunedin in Florida recently held a City Commission meeting that turned out to be a bustling affair with significant announcements and approvals that could shape the community's landscape in the coming years. Yesterday, December 18, the Commission took to the social media platform to broadcast their actions, which included the announcement of the 2025 Holiday Parade winners, where Suncoast United Pipes and Drums clinched the "Best Overall Winner" title, while Terbo Construction was celebrated as "Most Creative" and Just Dance Academy won the "Best Children’s" award, as per the City of Dunedin Florida - Government Facebook post.
In an elegant move to honor individual achievement, the Commission recognized Landon Ray for achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Following this accolade, a historic milestone was achieved with the approval of the Historic Landmark Designation for 558 Beltrees Street, a site that no doubt holds stories echoing through its aged structures. The post by the City of Dunedin Florida - Government also noted the awarding of construction bids and reappointments to key committees, reflecting a continuity and trust in the people serving these positions.
Emphasizing an ongoing commitment to infrastructure, the Commission approved a sizeable purchase order for sidewalk inspection and maintenance. According to a post on the City of Dunedin Florida - Government official Facebook page, this approval ensures that the City Sidewalk Inspection & Maintenance Program will not exceed $75,000 for Fiscal Year 2026. Similarly, cooperative efforts with Pinellas County for post-storm recovery and the PSTA Bus Shelter Cost Sharing Interlocal Agreement also received the green light, with $13,400 earmarked for the latter.
Infrastructure enhancements continued to be in the spotlight with the approval of a Duke Energy easement for new equipment at Amberlea Park and the water treatment plant's administration building set to receive fortified protection from Best Home Protection Windows and Doors, Inc., to the tune of $349,810. The City of Dunedin assures that those interested can access the Commission's video by topic or agenda items on demand.
