Residents of Durham seeking to contribute to the well-being of their community have the opportunity to engage with city and county officials on a new initiative aimed at reducing violence. The Durham County Government has announced a collaboration with the City of Durham, setting the stage for a comprehensive Violence Reduction Plan that begins with a foundation of informed, data-driven decision-making.
The public is encouraged to join the conversation starting with an event featuring Thomas Abt, a national expert on violence reduction. This session heralds the first in a series, where citizens can lend their voice and learn more about strategies for fostering safety. Set for December 17 at 4 p.m., the gathering will take place at the Durham County Library's Main Library, and interested parties are welcome to attend without prior reservation required.
As shared in a social media post by the Durham County Government, the dialogue aims to be an inclusive platform for stakeholders at every level to contribute to a blueprint for safety. "Want to help make Durham a safer place? We're working with City of Durham, NC Government on a bold new Violence Reduction Plan and step one is listening to the experts and forming a data-driven strategy," the post announced.
