The Placer County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation warning after heavy rains caused flooding on the South Yuba River near Cisco Grove, affecting a 2.5-mile area between Donner Pass Road and Cisco Road. One home with nine people was safely evacuated around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. Other residents were put on alert as water levels continued to rise.
"With several more days of rain and wind anticipated the Placer County Sheriff’s Office is actively coordinating with our public safety partners to ensure we are ready to respond in the coming days," the deputies said in a news statement obtained by ABC10. Resources have been pre-positioned across the county, including snowcats in Auburn, snowmobiles in Foresthill and Colfax, and a dive team on standby to respond if needed.
According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, sandbags are available at locations including Fire Station 180 in North Auburn and School Park Preserve in Auburn. Full details on sandbag locations are on the Placer County website. The Sheriff’s Office said, "We encourage everyone to stay informed, drive cautiously in wet conditions, and report hazardous situations." Residents should monitor official alerts and be ready to move to higher ground if needed.
