A 17-year-old high school student has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that took place last Friday in Fairfield. The incident, which left a 19-year-old male with stab wounds to his arm and chest, occurred around 4:03 PM near San Remo Street and San Juan Street. The victim reportedly drove himself to a local hospital for medical attention, where he was interviewed by officers, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
The subsequent police investigation suggested a verbal altercation involving offensive language between the victim and a group of six to seven juvenile males precipitated the attack. As a result of the confrontation, the victim was stabbed. Police believe the incident may be gang-related, following the recovery of gang indicia, a stolen firearm, and evidence linking the juvenile to the crime during a search warrant executed at the suspect's home.
It was reported that the Youth Services Unit of the Fairfield Police, including School Resource Officers, played a crucial role in identifying and apprehending the primary suspect. The arrest took place yesterday morning, with officers coordinating with school administrators to ensure a safe apprehension of the suspect during class hours.
The suspect, whose name was not released due to his age, was booked into Solano County Juvenile Detention Facility and is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and additional charges for the stolen firearm and the gang affiliations. The investigation remains ongoing as the police continue to determine whether any additional suspects are involved in the incident.
