Fort Bend County commuters are in for a slight bump in their daily expenses as toll roads are slated to become a bit pricier come the new year. According to CW39, the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority has announced rate increases across several key thoroughfares. Vehicles equipped with toll tags will now pay 47 cents, up from 46 cents, on the Grand Parkway. Tolls on the Fort Bend Parkway are jumping from 75 to 77 cents, while the Westpark Tollway will see an increase from 82 to 84 cents.

These new rates also mark the introduction of tolling at the FM 1463 plaza, now under construction, where two-axle vehicles with tags will pay 84 cents per transit. Details outlined by the Houston Chronicle confirm that the toll hikes were quietly approved by county commissioners, though neither the judge nor any of the four commissioners offered comments on the decision.

In total, a commuter traveling through every major toll plaza operated by the county can expect to pay roughly 16 cents more for a round trip, with county records detailing a 4% to 5% increase in toll rates since 2024. The yearly rate adjustment stems from Fort Bend County’s Toll Rate Order, which is tied to at least a 2% rise or the federal inflation rate for the Houston area, depending on which is higher; this year's inflation came in at 1.1%, leading to the minimum 2% increase.

The county operates an independent toll network, which includes the southwest section of the Grand Parkway known as Segment D. Revenue from these tolls remains with the county since it owns this portion of the road. Drivers without toll tags will be charged an extra 25 cents at each plaza, and the new rate for non-tag users at the upcoming FM 1463 plaza will be $1.09. The changes are scheduled to take effect starting January 1, 2026.
