"Visibility one quarter mile or less in freezing fog," the NWS advisory states. The fog could pose a significant hazard for drivers with impaired visibility in affected areas, especially during peak morning traffic hours. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use their headlights, and maintain a generous following distance. As of the last update, the temperature stands at a chilly 29°F with calm winds from the southwest, and high humidity levels are contributing to the persistence of the fog.
Today's weather in the capital region is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 42°F, with winds becoming south around 5 mph, according to the detailed forecast. The week ahead shows variability in conditions, ranging from a slight chance of snow with highs in the mid-30s to more cloudy days and chances of rain and snow later in the week. Notably, tomorrow may bring a 20% chance of snow before 1pm, with gusty winds of up to 20 mph adding a bite to the cold.
Looking beyond today, the Hazardous Weather Outlook released by the National Weather Service indicates no additional hazardous weather is expected through Saturday.
