After a prolonged manhunt that spanned over a month, Dominic Connelly, a fugitive wanted for the murder of his grandmother and the attempted murder of a sheriff's deputy, has been apprehended. The capture was made public on December 13 by the FBI Charlotte via a social media post, crediting the success to the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Connelly was discovered on December 11 in a desolate structure near Muddy Lane in Vanceboro, North Carolina. Identified by the Craven County Sheriff's Office, his arrest ended a search that began after he reportedly went on the run at the end of October. He faces charges for the murder of his grandmother on October 25 in Havelock, and the subsequent attempted murder, of a Craven County Sheriff’s Deputy just days later on October 29 in Vanceboro.
In the days following the crimes, multiple agencies joined forces to locate Connelly. This operation showcases the determined, collaborative approach law enforcement takes when confronted with such a critical task. With Connelly's arrest, the sheriff's office and their federal partners underscore their commitment to ensuring safety and justice for the implicated communities.
