The recent acts of violence have left communities around the world grappling with the pain and aftereffects of what has unfolded. Governor Polis, having just engaged with students at Brown University before one of the attacks, voiced his condemnation and offered condolences to those affected by these events.
According to Colorado Governor's Office, the attacks occurred over the weekend and saw communities in both America and Australia facing the horrors of gun violence, "No person ever should have to fear gathering to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah or any religious gathering," Governor Polis was quoted, as per Colorado Governor's Office, emphasizing that fear has no place in religious or educational settings, the statement continued to express a sentiment of unity and called for a collective pledge to halt such violence and embrace compassion for one another.
As the festival of Hanukkah commenced, attendees at a beach in Bondi found their celebration marred by violence, while across the world at Brown University, students faced an attack that disrupted what should have been a safe environment for learning and growth.
