A Healdsburg man already on the sex offender registry is back behind bars after police say a routine probation compliance check uncovered sexually explicit conversations with teenagers on his phones.
Officers arrested Alfredo Flores Rico on Tuesday and booked him into Sonoma County Jail, where his bail was set at $150,000. According to police, some of the messages appeared to involve individuals believed to be between 13 and 16 years old, and included attempts to arrange in-person meetings.
As reported by The Press Democrat, officers carried out the compliance check on December 2 at Flores Rico’s Healdsburg residence and seized multiple phones for forensic review. The outlet reported that Flores Rico was arrested on suspicion of violating probation, along with felony counts for possession of child sexual abuse material and for sending harmful material to a minor.
Patch reports that investigators found “numerous conversations on various social media platforms involving individuals between the ages of 13 and 16,” including sexually explicit content and, in some cases, attempts to arrange real-world meetups. According to Patch, officers also found alcohol inside the home, which police said was a violation of Flores Rico’s probation terms.
Legal Background And Prior Record
Flores Rico is a registered sex offender and, according to a Healdsburg Police Facebook post cited by The Press Democrat, has a record that includes multiple DUI convictions and a Los Angeles County conviction for sending harmful material to a minor. Police said those prior convictions are what prompted officers to conduct the probation compliance check at his home.
Police Ask Public For Help
Healdsburg police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the department at 707-431-3377, Patch reports. Investigators said they are working to identify any potential victims and urged residents to share tips or videos that might help them piece together who was on the other end of the online conversations.
Regional Enforcement Context
Online enticement of minors and possession of child sexual abuse material have been key enforcement targets across Northern California. A recent multi-county sting in the Sacramento region resulted in more than a dozen arrests, as CBS Sacramento reported, and the Justice Department has spotlighted federal prosecutions in similar child exploitation cases. Local investigators say detailed digital forensics and social media footprints have become central tools in tracking suspected offenders and potential victims.
Flores Rico remains in custody at the Sonoma County Jail while investigators continue to review the seized devices and determine the formal charges that will be filed in court. More information is expected as police and prosecutors release additional records and move the case through the charging process.
