Houston will have foggy mornings and warm days as winter begins. Dense fog is expected before 10 a.m. today, with a high of about 79 degrees. Patchy fog may occur after midnight, with lows around the mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service.
Houston’s first day of winter had morning temperatures near 70 degrees. The Houston Chronicle said, "Sunday’s forecast," "will more closely resemble late spring or early summer," with fog reducing visibility in the north and west parts of the city, as reported by Houston Chronicle. A weak cold front may bring showers or a possible thunderstorm Sunday evening but is unlikely to lower temperatures. A high-pressure system from Mexico is expected to keep the warm weather through the week, with Monday reaching the upper 70s. Christmas temperatures could approach 80 degrees.
Houston will see more sunshine by Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures near record highs. High pressure will keep Christmas Eve and Christmas Day mild, though mornings may have clouds and patchy fog. The Houston Chronicle said, "If Houston were to hit 80 degrees on Christmas Day, it would be tied for the third-warmest Christmas ever in Houston." Post-Christmas weather is uncertain, with a possible cold front at the end of the month, but timing and strength are unclear.
