Authorities have detained one suspect and are actively searching for another following a fatal shooting on Orebo Street last month. In a recent development, the Houston Police Department announced that Laderrick Dwayne Dixon Jr., 21, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the City of Houston, Dixon was already incarcerated on unrelated charges when he was identified and charged in relation to the November 21 incident.

While Dixon's booking photo has been circulated, the second suspect remains unidentified. Described as a young, slim black male, his image captured on surveillance footage is available alongside the news release, with the police appealing to the public for assistance. Mistakenly entering the wrong unit of a dual-unit short-term rental property, the suspects confronted Kevin Fowler, 23, who was later pronounced deceased after responding to Dixon's girlfriend. They presumed Fowler might have been romantically involved.

Dixon's arrest has brought partial closure to the case, with the victim identified by HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and B. Stephens. "HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Fowler with a gunshot wound inside his vehicle," detailed the news release. Fowler's vehicle was found at the scene by officers, subsequently leading to him being transported by paramedics to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later.

The fateful confrontation, stemming from a tragic misunderstanding, resulted in the shooting as Fowler was attempting to leave. Three other individuals were in his vehicle at the time of the attack, navigating away unharmed by the gunfire. The Houston Police Department is urging individuals with any information regarding the case or the whereabouts of the still-at-large suspect to come forward and contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
