The death of an inmate at North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Maryland, is currently being probed by state authorities, with Maryland State Police spearheading the inquiry into the circumstances that led to 32-year-old Jordan Polston's demise, as Maryland State Police reported.
Last seen alive by fellow prisoners, Polston was later discovered unresponsive in his cell and was declared deceased by the emergency services who responded to the urgent call, but the official cause of death has not yet been concluded pending autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore. Investigators are working hand-in-hand with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit (DPSCS IID) to uncover the facts surrounding this event.
Following the discovery of Polston's body, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit quickly arrived on scene alongside crime scene analysts from the Forensic Sciences Division, all hustle to piece together the last moments within the confines of that cell; as evidence is gathered and sorted, a suspect who is also housed in the corrections system has been pinpointed, yet their identity remains shielded from the public eye until formal accusations are laid before them.
After the meticulous gathering and examination of evidence, a detailed report will be assembled and handed over to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Allegany County, and as of now, no further details have been disclosed by the authorities, as Maryland State Police reported.
