An 18-year-old man from Kensington has been brought up on charges related to child pornography, as confirmed by the Montgomery County Department of Police. The authorities revealed that after a national cyber tip was received and investigated, Evan Morrison faces ten counts in connection with possessing illicit material.

The initial tip, brought to light on February 19, by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), funneled through the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and subsequently, the Montgomery County Department of Police took the reins. It was their Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) that swung into action to take this case head-on. Detectives linked the social media account in question to Morrison after tracing the IP address back to his residence in the Kensington area, according to a report by the Montgomery County Police Department.

A search warrant was secured and executed on October 3, ultimately leading to the discovery of several items of interest, paving the path for a broader inquiry and examination of the electronic devices confiscated from Morrison's home. Following the collection and analysis of evidence, an arrest warrant was issued later in November, culminating in Morrison's apprehension on Sunday. He is currently awaiting a bond review, set for today.

Morrison, who has been associated with Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Bethesda Fire Department since 2023 as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, has been duly stripped of his duties as a result of these serious allegations, making sure that he's been prevented from partaking in any volunteer activities since the investigation's outset and also cut off from accessing any Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service facilities, equipment, systems, or records, "he has not been operational since that time," the Montgomery County Police Department stated. The case is open and ongoing, with the authorities calling upon anyone with relevant information to contact the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
