What started as a midday robbery attempt at a Kerrville credit union ended almost as quickly as it began, with police hauling in a suspect just minutes after the alarm went out.

Officers say a Kerrville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly tried to rob the Kerr County Federal Credit Union on Junction Highway. Police detained a driver only minutes after the branch was targeted, and authorities report that no one was injured and no money was taken.

Officers were called just before 1 p.m. to the credit union in the 2300 block of Junction Highway after a man walked into the branch and handed an employee a note demanding cash, according to News 4 San Antonio. Witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect and pointed them toward the direction in which he left, police said.

Felony Stop Leads To Arrest

Responding units quickly spotted a vehicle in the 700 block of Junction Highway that matched the description and conducted a felony stop, detaining the driver without incident. After an on-scene investigation, officers arrested the driver, who was later booked on a robbery charge, as reported by JAM Broadcasting.

Who Police Say Was Arrested

Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old George Washington Waring II, who was booked into the Kerr County Jail, Kerr County Lead reports. The outlet also notes that Waring has prior arrests dating back to 2001 and that investigators said additional charges could be possible as the investigation continues.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities reiterated that no money was exchanged during the attempted robbery and that they are not seeking any other suspects at this time, per News 4 San Antonio. The Kerrville Police Department is asking anyone with information related to the case to contact investigators as the probe moves forward.
