Colie Trimnal of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has recently been elected to serve on the Carolina Organized Retail Crime Alliance (CORCA) Board, a significant move in the fight against sophisticated retail crime in North and South Carolina. The sheriff's office took to social media to share the news of Trimnal's newest achievement, which highlights his three decades of law enforcement experience. In a statement obtained by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Barry Faile expressed his confidence in Lt. Trimnal's qualifications for the role, praising his "experience, integrity, and commitment to collaboration."
Lt. Trimnal has more than just experience on his side; he is known for his leadership within the sheriff's office’s most populous district, which boasts an expanding retail corridor. He's been at the forefront to proactively, and with a distinct focus on intelligence, to address the rise in retail thefts. He has put in place innovative strategies and worked closely with retail asset protection teams to curb organized retail crime, which have led to reduced crime rates and strengthened partnerships across the board.
Trimnal's accolades include a pivotal role in establishing the Organized Retail Crime Task Force, improving regional abilities to identify and bring organized theft groups to justice. His work has crossed jurisdictional boundaries, ensuring key intelligence sharing and concerted efforts in enforcing the law. His commitment to professional development is demonstrated through the completion of programs such as the South Carolina Law Enforcement Commanders School, Carolina Command College, and the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy.
CORCA's mission is to reduce organized retail theft through enhanced communication between retailers and law enforcement agencies and to provide educational resources to those involved. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Trimnal's "leadership and dedication to building strong partnerships will be a tremendous asset as CORCA continues its mission."
