A new playground at Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way, will be inaugurated this Friday at 3:30 p.m. Ward 4 Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske will cut the ribbon. The event is open to families.

The new playground at Police Memorial Park, funded by Lennar Homes, is part of a larger renovation of the site. The park also features eight pickleball courts, a dog park, walking paths, a skatepark, and the Southern Nevada Police Memorial.

Police Memorial Park was opened in 2001 and has undergone several changes since then. Recent renovations include expanding the parking lot, increasing the number of pickleball courts from four to eight, and adding a new canine memorial statue.

JNJ Engineering Construction, Inc. served as the contractor for the park renovations. The project cost $4 million, funded by the city of Las Vegas general fund and donations.

According to a City of Las Vegas bulletin released on Tuesday, the Police Memorial Park renovations include improved parking lots, two new playgrounds (one of which was donated by Lennar), a new canine memorial statue, and four additional pickleball courts, bringing the total to eight.
