In late November, a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run. Police say the driver, 33-year-old Eric Villazana, had been drinking heavily before the crash that killed 45-year-old Abraham Ibale. News 3 LV reports Villazana consumed multiple beers and a mixed drink prior to the incident.
Clark County Detention Center records show Villazana faces felony DUI and hit-and-run charges. The crash occurred on November 29 near Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street, when his truck failed to yield to Abraham Ibale. Villazana initially fled, but detectives traced his truck to an apartment complex and found evidence linking him to the vehicle, 8 News Now reports.
Tavern footage showed the accused had six beers and a mixed drink the night before the crash, taking a partially filled glass when he left. Additional evidence, including a Taco Bell order and parking lot video, supports the police account of events.
Villazana is held on $150,000 bail and is due in court on December 30. The motorcyclist, Abraham Ibale, had moved to Las Vegas in 2008 and worked for the Transportation Security Administration. Through an attorney, the family said, “The Ibale family is heartbroken and the pain is unbearable. We are glad Eric Villazana has been found, and we wait for justice to prevail,” 8 News Now reports.
