A stabbing in central Las Vegas yesterday left an unidentified man dead and led to the arrest of 46-year-old Kenwonn Deon Montgomery. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, as reported by FOX5 Vegas, officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to H Street and Owens Avenue, where Montgomery is accused of stabbing a man who was not involved in an earlier confrontation. Montgomery was taken into custody and is facing charges in connection with the incident.
According to 8 News Now, Montgomery was described as acting erratically after the initial incident and went to his mother’s home, where police say he threatened family members before later encountering a pedestrian. Officers were called to the scene and arrived to find several people restraining Montgomery and a man with critical injuries. The injured man was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.
News 3 LV reports that Montgomery’s brother was able to disarm him during the incident, which led to Montgomery’s arrest. Lt. Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the victim was a pedestrian who was not involved in the situation and was attacked while walking down the street.
Montgomery now faces three felony charges: one count of open murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court today at 1:30 p.m., according to court records. The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased, and police say there is no ongoing threat to the public following the isolated incident.
