The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has introduced a device called The Grappler, used in 10 high-risk vehicle pursuits to safely apprehend suspects. Videos shared on social media show how it helped end incidents quickly, protecting both officers and suspects, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
In one case on May 13, The Grappler was used on Interstate 15 to detain a suspect with 10 prior felonies, and on August 18, it stopped a carjacking suspect on U.S. 95. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department warns, "Don’t run from us… or you just might meet The Grappler."
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on their Facebook page, The Grappler is a tool that can quickly stop vehicles while reducing the risk of injury during pursuits. A video showed how it works, and officials say it helps safely end high-risk situations. The department plans to continue using this technology.
