Manatee County is seeking applicants for three seats on the Environmental Lands Management and Acquisition Committee (ELMAC). Committee members help protect and manage the county’s green spaces and waterways.

According to Manatee County, ELMAC helps shape local environmental policy by recommending land purchase and management plans to the Board of County Commissioners. Volunteer members work to protect land and water resources, support passive recreation, and promote fish and wildlife habitats. Current vacancies include a member from the Florida Engineering Society, one experienced in active outdoor sports, and a resident of District 2.

ELMAC members also serve on the Tree Advisory Board, promoting awareness of the local tree canopy. Applicants must be Manatee County residents and attend meetings on the first Monday every other month at 6:00 p.m. in the Manatee Room, 1112 Manatee Ave W, Bradenton.

Manatee County’s Conservation and Parks Projects Referendum has allocated millions of dollars for environmental initiatives. Residents interested in joining ELMAC can apply by January 23, 2026. Applications and details are available on the county’s news alert page.
