Ramen Tatsu-ya, the Austin-born ramen shop that built a loyal following in Montrose, is finally heading west. The cult-favorite bowl house opens its second Houston location yesterday, inside Town & Country Village, with doors set to swing open at 2 p.m. The first 50 dine-in guests will snag a commemorative T-shirt featuring the new location's mural, and west-side diners can look forward to the same thick, slow-cooked broth and high-energy vibe that made the original a hit.
Location and opening details
Per Ramen Tatsu-ya, the Memorial-area shop takes over a space in Town & Country Village at 600 West Sam Houston Parkway North, Suite 605. The company notes that this new outpost grows its Houston presence after the Montrose location opened in 2017 and is part of a larger rollout of additional Texas shops. Staff and management have been dialing in the space and artwork over the past several weeks to get everything ready for Tuesday's debut.
Opening day perks
The restaurant officially opens at 2 p.m., and the first 50 dine-in customers will receive a T-shirt showcasing the location's mural, as reported by CultureMap Houston. The mural comes from Houston artist Briks, and photos shared by the restaurant reveal a colorful interior that channels the same playful, street-style feel as the Montrose shop. Management adds that the T-shirt giveaway applies only to guests who choose to dine in.
The ramen and the roots
Ramen Tatsu-ya built its reputation on a deeply savory tonkotsu broth that the company says can take up to 60 hours to produce. According to the restaurant's announcement, the brand traces its beginnings back to Austin in 2012. The Montrose restaurant, which opened in 2017, marked Ramen Tatsu-ya's first Houston location and helped cement its local fanbase. At Memorial, diners can expect the familiar lineup of signature ramen bowls, along with small plates and shareable dishes that follow the established Tatsu-ya playbook.
Where this lands in Memorial's dining scene
Memorial and Town & Country Village have seen a steady stream of high-profile openings this year, and Ramen Tatsu-ya's arrival adds another buzzy name to the mix. The Memorial shop becomes the chain's ninth overall location and its second in Houston, with a third local opening already slated for summer 2026, per CultureMap Houston. The new ramen spot joins nearby concepts such as The Henry and Credence, broadening the neighborhood's blend of casual and more polished options. For many Memorial diners, having Tatsu-ya closer to home cuts down the cross-town trek and should help relieve some pressure on the Montrose lines.
If you are heading out for opening day, plan to arrive early. The first bowls start hitting the table at 2 p.m., and the mural T-shirt is reserved for the first 50 dine-in guests only. After Tuesday, the new Memorial City location is set to slide into the area's regular rotation of lunch and dinner standbys.
