As the new year approaches, Montgomery County Recreation is beckoning families to start summer planning with their upcoming Summer Camp Fairs. These free events promise to showcase a lineup of camp programs available across the county, making it easier for parents and kids to carve out plans for the sunny months ahead.
Scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Germantown Community Recreation Center and Sunday, Jan. 11, also from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, these fairs will feature not just information booths but will also include interactive experiences such as games, arts and crafts. As families are busy immersing in hands-on activities, they will have the chance to get a slice of summer camp life that awaits their children.
According to a statement made by Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, "Our summer camps give kids across Montgomery County a safe, welcoming place to learn new skills, make friends and stay engaged during the summer months," which was obtained by the Montgomery County MD Government's official news posting. More than just a sneak peek into the programming, attendees can also engage directly with staff and instructors to seek answers for any pressing questions.
Understanding that financial barriers should not obstruct children from a wholesome summer experience, the department is offering on-site application assistance for 'Rec Assist,' their financial aid program. With the necessary documents in hand, parents can apply with ease and, if processed, funds will then be available, ensuring that every child, irrespective of economic background, has access to these opportunities.
For those looking to get ahead of the game, ActiveMONTGOMERY.org will feature camp listings tomorrow, with the Digital Summer Camps GUIDE available on Jan. 2, as reported by the Montgomery County MD Government site. County resident registration launches bright and early on Jan. 20 at 6:30 a.m., with non-county registrants following close behind on Jan. 22. Slots tend to fill up quickly, so early planning and registration are encouraged, available both online and in person.
