The search for a missing 8-year-old girl in Williamson County concluded with a twist this weekend after she was found safe, and her mother and another woman were arrested in connection with her disappearance. Cailin Doyle, 43, was taken into custody on charges of misdemeanor false report regarding a missing child, felony unlawful restraint, and felony interference with child custody, as reported by FOX 7 Austin. The child, Cadence Doyle, was initially believed to be a runaway after she was reported missing on December 5.

Arrested on Sunday, along with Cadence’s mother, was 36-year-old Karinna Ann Robertson. She is facing three felonies: felony interference with child custody, felony unlawful restraint, and felony abandoning a child without intent to return. The child was later found abandoned at a gas station, KVUE details. The girl was reported missing previously, which prompted emergency personnel to conduct an extensive search throughout Friday night.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office found the initial report filed by Doyle to be suspicious and questionable. An investigation revealed that Doyle and Robertson had allegedly conspired to hide the child in an effort to avoid an existing custody agreement with the child’s father. The ensuing search for Cadence Doyle involved multiple agencies and resources, including the Sam Bass Fire Department.

Following the girl’s safe recovery, Williamson County Sheriff Matt Lindemann said, "We understand the importance of bringing together numerous agencies and resources to search for a missing child. That responsibility is a vital part of ensuring a safe community for every citizen and every child," in a statement obtained by FOX 7 Austin. However, when someone intentionally misleads law enforcement to conceal their child, triggering a response involving helicopters, drones, ATVs, K9s, and dozens of emergency personnel, only for it to be revealed as an attempt to avoid complying with court orders, appropriate criminal charges are both warranted and necessary. We are fortunate and grateful that the child was located safely and was not harmed.

Both Doyle and Robertson were confirmed ensnared in the Williamson County Jail after being arrested. What's next for the duo remains to be seen as they face their respective charges.
