As the search for justice stretches into its 15th year, new developments emerge in the 2010 murder case of Kauai resident Amber Jackson. An arrest warrant has been issued for Gregory Glaser, her former boyfriend, linking him directly to her death. KHON2 reports that the warrant came after police uncovered new evidence that could possibly tie Glaser to the crime.
Ann Spaulding, Jackson's long-time friend and member of the Amber Jackson Justice Group, has been relentlessly pushing to keep the case in the light. "We persevere because we have to, we must. And I’ve just been driven all this time. This is my way of dealing with the grief. So having a break in this case is wonderful," she told KHON2. According to the same source, the justice group is offering a $20,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Glaser, now with an arrest warrant out for Murder in the Second Degree and bail set at $1 million, was described by police as a Caucasian man, roughly 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with brown-gray long hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive dot tattoo on his abdomen. The Kauai Police Department urges anyone with information on Glaser's whereabouts to reach out to them.
The case went cold until Glaser, 57, previously reported missing by his mother, came back under suspicion. He had also been charged in a separate shooting on Hawaii Island. Thomas Summers, Jackson's former employer, said he was relieved an arrest warrant was finally issued, noting that authorities must have found new evidence.
Friends and the community of Amber Jackson hope the renewed investigation will bring closure. Spaulding, deeply affected by the loss, told Hawaii News Now that while justice won’t bring Jackson back, it will provide some measure of resolution.
