The National Weather Service has provided detailed forecasts across New York City's boroughs, signaling a wet and wintry mix over the next few days. According to the forecast for Manhattan, rain is expected today, mainly after 4 pm with chances of precipitation at 90% and possible wind gusts as high as 29 mph. Similarly, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island will also face similar rainy conditions with their individual variations in temperature and wind chill values.
Looking ahead, the Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service indicates there are no immediate concerns for hazardous weather conditions that meet NWS warning criteria for the next few days. However, residents should be mindful of the potential for gales on Thursday into Thursday night, as well as Sunday night into Monday, particularly if traveling through coastal waters where a Gale Warning is already in effect.
As temperatures drop Thursday night with lows around 27-31 degrees across the boroughs, New Yorkers should prepare for winds gusting as high as 36 mph. There is also a 30 to 40 percent chance of snow predicted for Friday night into Saturday and again late Saturday night. While the accumulated precipitation may not be significant, the fluctuating temperatures leading to snowfall could impact road conditions and transportation.
With an eye toward the weekend, the forecast suggests a possibility of snow, particularly before 1 pm on Sunday, along with partly sunny conditions. The variations across the city are slight but could make an difference in how residents experience the weather. For example, Staten Island may see higher temperatures and snow chances compared to the Bronx, where individuals can expect colder weather with lows nearing 20 degrees on Sunday night.
