The National Weather Service issued forecasts for each borough of New York City, predicting rain and breezy conditions across the area. In Manhattan, rain is expected mainly before 1 p.m., with fog lifting before 10 a.m., and temperatures are projected to drop from around 50°F near noon to about 39°F by evening.
Each borough faced similar blustery conditions. Brooklyn’s temperatures were forecasted to closely match Manhattan’s, while Queens had rain lasting slightly longer into the afternoon. The Bronx had somewhat cooler daytime highs, and Staten Island’s weather was comparable to nearby boroughs. Tonight’s conditions in Manhattan and the Bronx were forecasted to be breezy, with west winds of 20 to 22 mph and gusts up to 39 mph, accompanied by a notable drop in temperatures by evening.
Looking ahead to the week leading into the New Year, extended forecasts across New York’s boroughs show slight variations but generally call for partly to mostly sunny days, with a low chance of snow Wednesday night. Daytime highs are expected in the mid-30s, while nighttime lows may fall into the low to mid-20s. Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island are all expected to follow a similar pattern.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook reports gale warnings for mariners, in effect from early this evening through the following evening. On land, winds may gust up to 41 mph, according to the Staten Island forecast, while marine areas could experience stronger conditions. A gale warning is in effect for several areas, including Long Island Sound and New York Harbor. Boaters are advised to monitor updates through NOAA Weather Radio or official weather websites.
