An NJ Transit bus caused a commotion in Midtown when it crashed into a building on Thursday. According to Gothamist, the bus had just completed its drop-off at 101 Park Ave. before losing control. It ended up hitting a structure that contained several businesses, including an art museum, an indoor golf studio, and a club.

The aftermath was witnessed by a pedestrian who told Audacy, "It's something that I've never seen in my life. It's unreal, it's half the bus in a building." The Department of Buildings stated that the bus first jumped the curb and impacted 101 Park Ave., then proceeded to carve a path through a sidewalk shed in front of 370 Lexington Ave., damaging about 35 feet of it. Luckily, none of the pedestrians was injured during the incident.

Police reported that the bus driver was the sole person injured during the crash and was taken to a local hospital, although their condition was not disclosed. The only damage the buildings sustained, as described by the Department of Buildings, were to the facade of 101 Park Ave., including a gate that was knocked from its tracks, and to the sidewalk shed that had already been under repairs.

Coach USA, which operates NJ Transit buses, is conducting an investigation to understand what led to the crash. "We are currently investigating what occurred as to the incident near Grand Central. No pedestrians or any others were injured," said the vice president of public affairs for Coach USA in a statement obtained by Audacy. This assurance was echoed by authorities who confirmed that no structural damage had been inflicted upon 370 Lexington Ave.
