As Oak Creek rings in its 70th anniversary, Mayor Dan Bukiewicz took to social media to highlight the city's celebrations and milestones over the past year, giving recognition to the hard work of city staff and the vibrant community events that drew residents together. In a post on the City of Oak Creek Government Facebook page, Mayor Bukiewicz reflected on the various festivities and the unchanged reliability of services amidst inclement weather, "One thing that hasn’t changed is the weather," he began, his statement continuing to thank the city staff for their undeterred efforts to keep the city operational.
The year-long celebration of Oak Creek's septuagenarian status featured diverse events which, despite the grip of winter, spring bloomed with community clean-up events and the farmers market at Drexel Town Square that brought the city to life, road construction barrels and flowers emerged as harbingers of the city's commitment to beautification and infrastructure alike, all serving their different purpose but being equally significant in the eyes of the Mayor. Bukiewicz's post proudly proclaimed, "Summer in Oak Creek was truly special during our anniversary year," and the list of seasonal events spanned Flag Day celebrations, music festivals, historical society showcases, and a birthday cake-adorned old-time baseball game, as per the City of Oak Creek Government Facebook post.
Transitioning into fall, the city's ongoing vibrancy was seen in highly attended local markets and the diverse C.A.F.E. event that showcased international flavors and cultures, according to the mayor’s statement. The seasonal celebrations were capped off with December's Light the Square event, where a donated tree and dazzling light display, followed by the inaugural Christmas Market, painted the city with a festive spirit, drawing crowds of residents and visitors.
In his message, Bukiewicz expressed his hope that the past year had brought joy and good times to Oak Creek families, stating, "I hope the past year brought you fond memories and happiness," and his aspirations for a thriving new year were extended to all Oak Creek residents, as he concluded, "It’s my wish for you all to have a happy, prosperous, and healthy 2026," as mentioned on the City of Oak Creek Government post.
