Over 10,600 high schoolers from Ohio received some good news this week: they're officially headed to The Ohio State University Columbus campus. According to OSU News, these students, hailing from all 88 Ohio counties and more than 750 schools, got their acceptance letters after applying by the early action deadline. A significant chunk of the accepted, over 1,700, will be the first ones in their families heading off to college. They'll help shape the incoming class of 2026 this fall.
Top brass at the university expressed their enthusiasm for the incoming class. "We are excited to welcome these future Buckeyes to Ohio State. They represent students from across the state who are academically gifted and expressed an early interest in our university,” Ravi V. Bellamkonda, Executive Vice President and Provost, told OSU News. One standout feature of this incoming class is that it includes 184 students who accomplished a perfect ACT or SAT score and will be a part of the new President’s Scholars Program.
This program aligns with the university's Education for Citizenship 2035 Strategic Plan and offers full-cost-of-attendance scholarships alongside academic support. It's a part of three new scholarship initiatives aiming to boost access and opportunities for Ohio's youth. Meanwhile, more than 1,435 students were admitted through the Ohio Guaranteed Admission Program, securing spots for the students ranking in the top 5% of their high school classes.
These students have their path laid out, but the options are still open for others interested in becoming Buckeyes. Students outside of Ohio and international students who hit the early action deadline will find out if they made the cut come January 23. And for those still considering applying to the Columbus campus for autumn 2026, the door is open until January 15, 2026, with decisions being announced on March 6, 2026. Moreover, various regional campuses and the Ohio State ATI in Wooster have ongoing admissions processes and a Regional Campus Commitment initiative to waive all tuition and fees for qualifying low-to middle-income students.
May 1, 2026, is the deadline to submit acceptance fees. It's decision time, but for the 10,600-plus high schoolers now securing their futures at Ohio State, it's just an official start to their Buckeye journey.
