The holiday season in Pickerington was brightened by a special event targeting those who couldn't be home for the festivities. According to a social media post from the local police department, the Operation Santa's Sleigh cruiser light show took place in front of the Children's Hospital, lighting up East Livingston Avenue with a cavalcade of emergency vehicles showcasing a vibrant display of flashing lights. It aimed to spread cheer among children and families within the medical facilities during the holiday period.
Operation Santa's Sleigh is a collaborative effort, drawing together various public safety organizations across the state. This year's display was spearheaded by Light Ohio Blue, working in conjunction with the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association, Ohio State Highway Patrol, the International Association of Firefighters, State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, and an array of participating public safety agencies. But the goodwill didn't stop with the light show, officers also delivered hundreds of toys to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, which provides vital housing and support to families with children receiving medical care.
The Pickerington Police Department expressed particular thanks to Sgt. Jeremy Vacca for his voluntary service at the event. "Thank you to Sgt. Jeremy Vacca for volunteering to attend this great event!" the department wrote, acknowledging the effort and community spirit demonstrated by their personnel. This event not only lit up the night but also brought warmth and a sense of togetherness to those who might have felt disconnected from the holiday spirit due to their circumstances.
