Verona Police have recently taken Jerry Chambers, a 59-year-old Pittsburgh man, into custody on a series of charges following a string of criminal activities. As reported by WPXI, Chambers is suspected to be linked to an attempted ATM theft from a local Sheetz in Cheswick as well as an alleged license plate theft from a vehicle.

Last Friday, home security footage captured Chambers alongside two men as they tried unsuccessfully to remove a registration plate from a Ford pickup truck. Surveillance video obtained by authorities shows a GMC pickup and a Chrysler car, which is said to belong to Chambers, at the scene of the attempted theft. It is important to note that Chambers has a history of theft and burglary offenses. On Monday, following the ATM theft attempt at Sheetz, police engaged in a chase with a truck, only to later connect it to the license plate incident. Chambers was arrested after the truck, a rental vehicle from Enterprise Rent A Car, was spotted and pulled over by police in Verona. He was subsequently released on a nonmonetary bond and is scheduled to appear before a judge on December 22, according to information from the WPXI report.

In a separate but related incident reported by WTAE, four individuals, thought to be juveniles, attempted to cart a PNC bank ATM away from the Sheetz gas station using a dolly but were thwarted by the arrival of a police officer. The group then fled the scene in a white pickup truck, leading to a brief police pursuit, which was later abandoned as the getaway truck reached high speeds. Chambers, who was arrested the day following the attempted ATM theft, is not believed to have been present during the theft itself.

Nonetheless, Chambers faces several charges, as detailed by Pittsburgh's Action News 4, including possession of instruments of crime and dealing with forged documents. At this stage, it remains unclear if the others involved in the license plate incident were also partisans in the ATM altercation, or if any additional suspects have been arrested. This story continues to unfold.
