Raleigh residents and stakeholders are invited to provide input on the city’s ADA Transition Plan for public right-of-way areas. A public meeting is scheduled for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Operations Way Facility, 2550 Operations Way, according to the City of Raleigh.
The meeting will cover updates to the plan, which focuses on improving sidewalks, crossings, and programs to enhance accessibility across the city. The city's release states, "It’s for anyone who cares about creating a more inclusive, connected Raleigh." Snacks will be provided, and attendees are advised to watch for on-site signage, as GPS directions may not always be accurate.
Accessibility affects not only the ADA community but also the broader population in Raleigh. City transportation staff and consultants will be on hand to provide information, answer questions, and gather community feedback. As per the city's release, "You’ll learn how the ADA Transition Plan guides improvements to sidewalks, crossings, and programs so that everyone can get where they need to go safely and comfortably."
The meeting will provide ASL interpreters and assistive listening devices to support accessibility. The city asks anyone needing additional accommodations to email [email protected] by last Friday, though later requests may be accommodated if resources allow. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be livestreamed on the City of Raleigh’s YouTube channel.
