St. Charles County residents have several ways to pay their real estate and personal property taxes. Collector of Revenue Michelle McBride notes that late fees, mandated by the state, take effect on Jan. 1, 2026: “Paying timely avoids those state-mandated late payment penalties,” according to St. Charles County. Payment options include online payments, which provide immediate confirmation and a mailed receipt; payment by phone using an e-check or card; or sending a check through the mail.
St. Charles County lists four ways to pay taxes in St. Charles County. Payments can be made online with a $1.50 e-check fee or a 2.5% card fee; by phone at 1-855-227-7840; by mail with a check, money order, or cashier’s check and the tax bill stub; or by using the Collector’s drop boxes in St. Charles. In-person payments are also accepted at the Collector’s office, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Dec. 24 and 25.
For residents using physical mail or their bank’s online bill pay, early planning is recommended to avoid late payments. McBride advises, “If you're paying through your personal bank's online bill pay, be sure to initiate the transaction before Christmas to get it delivered before the Jan. 1, 2026, delinquency date," as per city's announcement. For last-minute mail payments, a hand-cancel with the current date can ensure the payment is recorded on time.
