A 25-year-old suspect with a staggering $210,000 in warrants was nabbed by Seattle police officers while behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle in the city's Belltown neighborhood. The Seattle Police Department's blog details the arrest that occurred early this morning, after an initial encounter with the suspect took place two days prior, on December 29th. According to the police report, an SPD officer on patrol spotted the man driving an Audi SUV with a mismatched license plate, initially registered to a Volkswagen Jetta.

The officer's attempt to conduct a traffic stop was met with resistance as the suspect fled, committing several traffic violations in the process. The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) lent their eyes, tracking the stolen SUV through Belltown, which at a high speed was caught on camera driving the wrong way down Bell Street. Just this morning, driving the same vehicle, the suspect was located again by the officer around 1st Avenue and Bell Street.

Police found that the suspect had amassed over $210,000 in warrants, including a $150,000 Escape warrant, a $45,000 Attempted Burglary warrant, and two additional burglary warrants totaling $15,050. Following another brief chase that led to the car being abandoned, RTCC analysts provided crucial support, sourcing video footage of the man fleeing the stolen SUV.

Soon after, the man was discovered in a nearby park. "Police quickly found the man at a nearby park and arrested him," the SPD shared. In a testimony of evidence connecting him to the crime, an Audi car key and goods belonging to the SUV's legal owner were uncovered in his possession. The police took the suspect into custody and booked him into the King County Jail on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, in addition to the myriad of felony warrants. The vehicle in question was impounded at the scene as the SPB's General Investigations Unit now takes up the case.
