The Kate Jackson Center in Tampa is now home to a freshly upgraded Anderson Playground, thanks to a $550,000 investment that not only revamped the look and feel of the place but also made it inclusive for all, featuring a Kompan Giant Dome among its new attractions; the playground's revamp was part of an initiative to enhance accessibility across the city's recreational spaces, as reported by the City of Tampa's announcement.

In her comments about the playground's fresh start, Mayor Jane Castor shared, "Anderson Park is one South Tampa's main play spaces and meeting places, and was due for an upgrade," adding that "A park like this, equipment like this, and a day like this make us all feel like a kid again," words infusing some community spirit into the unveiling of the new facilities, that was outlined by the City of Tampa.

Beyond the vibrant play structures, the playground’s makeover included installation of safer ground cover, aesthetic improvements, and most crucially, improvements to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act—ensuring that children and adults of varying levels of mobility can engage in the area's offerings equally, as detailed in the city's announcement.

The renovation, which began on August 25 with the tearing down of the old equipment, necessitated the closure of the basketball court, the young children’s play area, and the splash pad throughout the duration of the work—these areas are all now back in action to complement the services and facilities provided by the Kate Jackson Center since its opening in 2003.
