The Lone Star State surges ahead as it reports significant economic advancement, leading the nation with the highest job gain over 12 months. Drawing from September employment data, Texas has broken various records, setting an impressive pace in job creation with measures that go beyond just numbers, impacting real lives statewide.
It's a noteworthy ascent for Texas, achieved amidst a backdrop of fierce national competition. According to data from the Governor's Office, the state not only has the largest labor force in its recorded history at 15,879,000 but, celebrating a robust economy, also boasts the number of Texans with employment at an all-time high of 15,222,900. With every new business opening its doors, Texans are finding themselves in a landscape where opportunity smolders bright.
Behind this growth spurt is a concerted effort to attract industry and cultivate a fertile ground for innovation and business expansion. As stated by the Office of the Texas Governor, "Texas is where free enterprise flourishes and jobs grow." Echoing this sentiment, Texas gained 168,000 jobs from September 2024 to September 2025, outpacing the national annual job growth rate by 0.4 percentage points - statistics that reflect a state buckling down to build a formidable workforce.
Committed to keeping the economic engine humming, Texas also holds a lower unemployment rate than the nation, at 4.1% compared to the U.S. average of 4.4%. This narrative of growth is supported by more than investments; it’s the people, the very laborious hands that build, maintain, and drive Texas's economy, that tell the tale of a state invested in work-ready education, as Governor Abbott recently announced funding exceeding $14 million in training grants for higher education institutions and ISDs across Texas.
