
A tragic shooting in Muskegon, Michigan, has left two individuals dead and three others wounded, including a child, according to reports by local news outlets. The incident occurred last Saturday in the 600 block of Jackson Avenue. Responding to the scene around 3:15 p.m., authorities found five victims with gunshot injuries.
CBS News Detroit identified the deceased—a 25-year-old man who died at the location, and a 22-year-old woman who succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Two additional 25-year-old men were reported in critical condition, while a 4-year-old with minor injuries is expected to be released after receiving care.
Muskegon Mayor Ken Johnson expressed his concern, urging the community to support those affected by the shooting. "Meanwhile, let's hold the victims, their families, our neighbors, and all the first responders and medical professionals in our hearts, prayers, and thoughts," Johnson said, as conveyed by WZZM13. "May our community come together in care for one another, as we navigate these traumatic events, and in pursuit of justice."
Officials have released the names of the shooting victims found dead inside the home following an altercation, as 22-year-old Cori Marie-May Watts and 25-year-old Joshua Foundren Jr. A person of interest is now in custody related to the incident, thought to be linked to a robbery as reported by WWMT. There have been no additional details provided regarding the person of interest or their current involvement at this time.
The Muskegon Police Department continues to investigate the case, calling upon local, state, and federal law enforcement for assistance.
