The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting in Summerlin this week, where a homeowner shot two men in his garage. The suspects, Connor Davis and Arqua Jenkins, both 29, are hospitalized and face pending charges, according to News 3 LV

Davis and Jenkins face charges including attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon. Davis has previous arrests for theft and domestic battery, and Jenkins has a prior no contest plea for reckless driving. The shooting happened around 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday at Haven Oaks Place near Charleston Boulevard and Sky Vista Drive. An LVMPD official told KTNV, "The investigation is currently underway, so the exact circumstances are unknown; however, two male subjects were struck by gunfire by a homeowner when they approached him in his garage [while armed]."

Legal experts are reviewing the incident. Prof. Thomas Chittum of the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV said, "Nevada law permits the use of force, including deadly force, to protect oneself or others from imminent death or serious bodily injury," but added, "Nevada law does not allow a person to use deadly force out of what they call 'bare fear;' there has to be circumstances that justify that level of use," as cited by News 3 LV. The homeowner’s actions are being examined under Nevada’s definition of "justifiable homicide" and rules for using deadly force in defense of an occupied dwelling, as per Hoodline. No charges have been announced.
