Early Christmas morning, two men were injured in a shooting at a convenience store in North Philadelphia, as reported by NBCPhiladelphia. The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on the 3500 block of Germantown Avenue, where one victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and another sustained injuries to his arm and leg.
Authorities have stated that one of the victims, an adult male, is in critical condition following a wound to the chest. A 28-year-old man, the second victim, was self-transported to the hospital, and he is listed in stable condition. The violent episode spurred a response from local police, who dispatched officers to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire, according to details provided by 6abc.
The ongoing investigation has uncovered that both victims were inside the convenience store when the shooting began. Surveillance footage revealed details of the harrowing moment; a light-colored sedan was seen stopping in front of the business, and two men—donning dark-colored clothing—exited the vehicle and commenced firing, NBCPhiladelphia reported. One suspect is said to have entered the store while the other remained outside, shooting through an open doorway.
Police located 11 spent shell casings at the scene and discovered a significant amount of cash on the store floor, believed to belong to one of the victims. The motive, possibly a robbery, is still under investigation. The suspects fled the scene southbound on Germantown Avenue towards Tioga. No arrests have been made, and the public has been urged to contact the authorities with any relevant information, as KYW Newsradio mentioned. Those with knowledge about the shooting are asked to call 215-686-TIPS.
