Union County is set to see more than 14 miles of its roadways revamped in the upcoming year, following a significant $5 million investment by the N.C. Department of Transportation. Secured by TrueRock Construction, LLC of Monroe, this sizeable funding aims to spruce up a valuable portion of community infrastructure. As reported, the initiative will entail milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction on selected sections of U.S. 74 West and N.C. 207.
The contract, bagging by TrueRock Construction last month, encompasses a segment of U.S. 74 West from Rocky River Road to Sardis Church Road and a stretch of N.C. 207 from Sandy Ridge Road to Joe Collins Road. The plan is set not only for a surface overhaul but also includes rebuilding road shoulders, an often overlooked yet integral part of road safety and maintenance.
In addition to these primary routes, multiple secondary roads are on the docket for rejuvenation. The list includes Gray Fox Road, New Town Road, and several others that connect various parts of the county and serve as lifelines for residents and local commerce. TrueRock Construction has been given the green light to commence operations at the end of December with a completion timeline that stretches into spring 2027.
