A distressing breach of trust occurred at a Vallejo high school when a site safety supervisor was arrested on charges including solicitation of lewd acts and false imprisonment involving a student. The Vallejo Police Department swiftly apprehended the accused, Reuben Carter Freeman, after a report flagged his alleged misconduct on campus.
The incident was reported to the police on Tuesday, and by 3:04 PM, officers were dispatched to the school located on the 800 block of Nebraska Street. Freeman, 36, had already fled the scene before their arrival, but was soon found by officers in the vicinity of the school. According to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, he was detained without further incident.
Upon investigation, authorities uncovered that Freeman took control of the student's cell phone and threatened not to return it unless she obliged with his demands. The disturbing situation escalated as Freeman solicited sexual acts, held the student against her will, and obstructed her from exiting the classroom while in possession of her phone. Eventually, he returned the device and allowed the student to leave only after she had met some of his demands.
Freeman faces serious charges, including those for soliciting lewd acts in public, false imprisonment, and robbery. Following the arrest, Police Chief Jason Ta firmly stated, per the Vallejo Police Department, "Protecting students is a core responsibility of this department. When we receive information about concerning behavior on a school campus, our officers respond quickly and decisively. We will hold individuals accountable and continue to work closely with school officials to ensure campuses remain safe environments for students and staff." Chief Ta's statement signifies the department's commitment to student safety and law enforcement's resolve in such matters.
The Vallejo Police Department has urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and contact Officer Brad Bermann. Investigative leads can be directed to him at (707) 648-4321 or via email at [email protected].
