Residents in the 400 block of Wilson Avenue in Vallejo found themselves at the center of a tense situation earlier this month when a dispute over an unleashed dog led to an armed confrontation. Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division officers were called to the scene around 9:30 AM last Wednesday, after reports surfaced of a man brandishing a firearm following a verbal altercation. A detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle, provided by an eyewitness, proved pivotal to the police response, according to a social media post from Vallejo Police Department.
As officers arrived, they spotted the suspect's truck in a parking lot. They performed a high-risk felony traffic stop, during which the suspect cooperated and was detained without incident. The victim in the incident recounted how an altercation over his dog, which was not on a leash at a public park, escalated to a point where he feared for his life. These events unfolded as the suspect, after the verbal dispute, reached into his truck, pulled out a gun, and pointed it at the victim, who chose to walk away from the threatening situation.
The police then carried out a field show-up, where the victim positively identified the driver of the truck as the individual who aimed the gun at him. When the officers checked the vehicle, they discovered an unregistered and loaded firearm in plain view. A subsequent search of the truck yielded an additional unregistered, loaded firearm, an imitation firearm, and extra ammunition. "I had to show him what’s up," the suspect stated post-Miranda, fortifying his intent behind the gesture. The confiscated weapons were processed into evidence, and the suspect was booked at the Solano County Jail, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
