Two individuals were hospitalized following a collision on Sunday when a vehicle struck a Metro train in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles. According to the KTLA, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Raymond Avenue, involving a small compact car and a Metro train.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the vehicle was severely damaged, and video footage showed the extent of the wreckage. Both occupants were transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The LAFD's official alert mentioned that "Firefighters extricated 2 patients from a passenger vehicle which collided with heavy rail train." It was confirmed that "All passengers on the train were assessed and are uninjured."
As the aftermath of the crash unfolded, Metro services were significantly disrupted. There was no service between the Expo/Western and Expo/Vermont stations as of 4:30 p.m. on the day of the accident. Bus shuttles were quickly organized to reroute passengers around the crash site, providing alternative transportation options until the scene could be cleared and regular train operations could resume.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine the circumstances that led to the event. The crash also prompted the shutdown of tracks in both directions for an extended period, while the vehicle was removed and passengers were off-boarded at the next platform. Information provided by the Los Angeles Fire Department's alert indicated that the LAPD was involved in the ongoing inquiry, listing the incident number as LAPD INC#2547.
