
Ernest Doolin, a School Crossing Guard and U.S. Army veteran, was recognized for preventing a young student from being struck by a car on November 13, in Warren. His quick action at a school crossing showcased bravery that protected the child from potential harm, according to the City Of Warren.
Mayor Lori M. Stone and Police Commissioner Eric Hawkins honored Doolin on Monday with a Mayoral Proclamation and a Civilian Citation Award for Valor. "His instinct to act—and to protect a child without regard for his own safety—is nothing short of heroic," Mayor Stone said, praising his selfless act, as reported by the City Of Warren.
Ernest Doolin has been a crossing guard in Warren since 2022, helping ensure children’s safety. Commissioner Hawkins said, "Our crossing guards play an essential role in protecting children every day," and added, "Mr. Doolin’s actions demonstrate the vigilance and care we see across our ranks, and we are proud to honor him." Doolin’s work shows the role of school crossing guards in keeping children safe at crosswalks, as stated by the City Of Warren.
