West Allis, WI is kicking off the holiday season with a series of festive events that are sure to get residents in the Christmas spirit. The City of West Allis recently posted a schedule on their Facebook page, detailing Saturday's holiday happenings, including the transformation of their City Hall Art Gallery, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and the annual Christmas Parade.
The festivities began at 3 p.m. with "Allis in Winterland," an event designed to create a Polar Express-themed experience for families inside the art gallery. Activities included writing letters to Santa—a time-honored tradition that allows children to communicate their holiday wishes directly to the North Pole. As the daylight waned, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was slated to take place at 4 p.m. at City Hall Centennial Plaza. Choirs set the mood with Christmas carols while attendees sipped on warm beverages, all culminating in the illumination of a towering 50-foot-tall Blue Spruce tree.
Shortly after, at 4:45 p.m., the annual Christmas Parade commenced, filling downtown West Allis with a sense of wonder and joy. A procession traveled along Greenfield Ave., flanked by marching bands, an array of creative floats, vintage vehicles, elves, and, as promised by the city's announcement, Santa Claus himself. The City of West Allis's Facebook post captured the spirit of the day, stating, "We hope to see you there!" and ensuring that the information was available for all who wished to partake in Saturday's winter revelries.
