In anticipation of America's semiquincentennial celebrations, the White Settlement Police Department has embarked on a project to pay homage to the nation's rich history with special tribute badges. The badges, which officers are permitted to wear throughout 2026, were introduced in a social media post by the department. They are adorned with iconic symbols of the nation's birth, including the Declaration of Independence, General George Washington, Betsy Ross with the first flag, and Independence Hall.
Given the task of bringing to life this testament to the country's past, the Smith & Warren Badge Company, based in White Plains, New York, crafted the badges. They encapsulate moments frozen in time, tying modern-day law enforcement back to the roots of American independence. Officers are authorized to don these badges from January 1, 2026, through the end of that year, as stated in the official White Settlement Police Department post.
The effort to memorialize America's semiquincentennial was made possible not only by the badge manufacturer but also through the financial support of the local community. The White Settlement Police Department extended its gratitude to the generous donors who contributed to the project. The commemorative pieces are not just badges of authority, but badges of honor, each narrating a tale of endurance, revolution, and the genesis of the United States.
